Palawan On My Mind

White sand, pristine beaches, breath-taking landscapes, four days are not enough to explore the beauty and wonders of the Islands of Palawan. Unfortunately that was the only time given to me to visit the place. I promised myself however that "I shall return" (pakopya po Mang Douglas).

We stayed at Tropical Sun Inn at the heart of Puerto Princesa. Its a modest room with a nice view. Lush Garden will greet you at the entrance. We chose this place because it's near to almost everywhere we plan to visit.

First on our list is the famous Underground River. This natural wonder features almost 8 kilometers of navigable underground river reputed to be the world's longest that winds through a spectacular cave before emptying out into the South China Sea.

It is located in Sitio Sabang, Barangay Cabayugan which is about 81 kms. from the city proper. We hired vehicle and it tool us almost 3 hours to reach the place before transferring to a motorized boat to lead us to the caves. Eventhough, the travel time is so long, everything is worth the wait because the Underground River is so peaceful and beautiful.

Then we visited the Ihawig Penal Colony where criminals roam around in a community. Actually, we were informed that taking pictures are not allowed, so this one is a stolen shot.

On the last day, we visited some museums and Historical Landmarks. One of the place we visited is the Crocodile Farm where a skeleton and skin of one of the world'd largest crocodile is on display.

  2. I have been to El Nido several times already and the place is just heavenly. I have never been to the underground river thou coz the travel is just pure pain. I just hope that the government could cement the road coz I heard that it is really beautiful.

  10. Palawan waters are among the best in the world, not only for diving but also for fishing. A diver's paradise, it has miles of sub-surface coral and rainbow reef walls which surround the coasts and coves teeming with rich marine life.
