"Sawadee Ka" I arrived in Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok at past midnight and proceeded immedietely to Baiyoke Sky Hotel which will be my home for the next few days. Rising eighty-eight (88) storeys above Bangkok’s skyline, Baiyoke Sky is Thailand’s tallest and Bangkok’s most scenic hotel. I was billeted in the 67th Floor and was lucky to have an awesome night view of Bangkok in my room. The spectacular view of its golden-lit highways almost kept me up all night.
Enjoying a prime central location, it is close to the bustling Pratunam shopping market (somewhat similar to Manila's Divisoria). And being the tallest building in the area, the hotel's observation deck provides wondrous views of the city below specially at nights. I tried the revolving top of this hotel and the air was so cold and cool.
Here are few shots I have taken in my room and at the street facing the hotel at night and in the morning of my first night (and morning) in Bangkok.
Awesome views of the city!

ReplyDeleteWow. Awesome night shot. Mas maganda yan sa Manila.
ReplyDeleteBig confusion but beautiful!
ReplyDeleteVery nice pics. Bangkok's skyline is quite impressive.
ReplyDeleteDid you have any pics of the night life there ? hehe :)
Interesting shots of Bangkok! I hope you have time to visit their floating market and cruise the Chau Phraya river. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHi Norman, so you're in Bangkok. Great place to be... The pictures are awesome. That looks a new hotel. I remember staying at the Siam Intercontinental (now destroyed to give place for a shopping) and at the Oriental, a treat! Now, I'm still strolling around in Sofia at Blogtrotter. Enjoy and have a great weekend!
ReplyDelete@ kyels - i certainly did and have visited few awesome places.
ReplyDelete@ kris jasper - the place is different. pinoys and thais may look the same but thats where the similarity ends.
ReplyDelete@ tony - that maybe true progress-wise but other than that, pinas pa rin ako.
ReplyDelete@ uma por dia - thanx for the visit. beautiful indeed. a new place is always confusing isn't it?
ReplyDelete@ bw - i actually have two sets of nightlife pics here. but i will show the night market in my future post. i guess i would not be able to show the other set 'coz i want to maintain my GP ratings. lols. i can send some to ur e-mail thou.
ReplyDelete@ bertn - due to time constraints, i was not able to visit the floating market 'coz its outside bangkok but i do get to cruise in the Chau Phraya river and will post some pics soon.
ReplyDelete@ gmg - i was told baiyoke was not a new hotel but nevertheless its one of the most busy hotel because of its proximity to the markets and other establishments in bangkok.
ReplyDeletei like sofia, do share more. have a nice week too.
wow! i never thought Thailand is that beautiful! i like the first pic=]
ReplyDeletetake care kuya lawstude!
Hello, got here via Google and you have a nice site.
ReplyDeletePlan sana namin hubby ko magbakasyon sa Thiland. We'll go there on our own and plan to book in Baiyoke Sky. Malapit ba Baiyoke sa malls, tourist spots and entertainment zone?
Kung meron ka iba alam hotel na affordable and comfy please advise me too. Thank you in advance.
If ok lang sayo, you can email me at gwen814@yahoo.com. Thank you ulit.
Hello Lawstude, I love this site.
ReplyDeleteTo Gwen, if you are not choosy about hotels then you can try Viengtai Hotel in Khao San Road. It is within walking distance to the Grand Palace, Temple of the Dawn and nightlife.
You can also try Bangkok Palace. It is also near Pratanum Market and MBK Mall.
If you want more expensive one, try Novotel. Hope you enjoy your stay there.
-cyril-
@ cedeux - thanx for visiting. i will post more pics of bangkok after my panagbenga posts.
ReplyDelete@ gwen - it is always nice to see new visitors in my blog.
ReplyDeleteAbout your questions.. i am not an expert in Thailand and I think anino and cyril gave a valuable suggestion.
If you like shopping, then Baiyoke is a good hotel for you. It is near Indra Mall famous for bargain items. Also, the street leading to Baiyoke is also a place for Night Market where more bargained items are for sale.
Entertainment zones and high-end malls are just few minutes away also.
Hope this helps. If you have any more questions, feel free to buzz me. I am sure other readers will help u also.
@ anino - ang nabili ko sa bangkok ay extra battery for 890 baht at compact flash 4 gb for 1350 baht.
ReplyDeletedi ko nakita kung magkano eos 400d kasi puro picture ni Paula Taylor of TARA2 and anduon eh. nadistract tuloy ako.
@ cyril - thanks for visiting and thank you more for advising gwen. have a nice day!!!
ReplyDeleteI also stayed in the Baiyoke when I went to Bangkok about two years ago. Loved it there, lalo sa me penthouse. But you were still up at two a.m.? May I surmise that you went "somewhere" else? :-)
ReplyDeleteGanda ng room mo! Amazing cityscape and love that nightshot. Sana mabisita ko rin ang bangkok soon.
ReplyDelete@ r-yo - i will invoke my right to be silent hehehe.
ReplyDelete@ ferdz - i am sure makakarating ka din dun soon. and you will have a grand time taking pics there.
ReplyDeleteI've lived on and off in Bangkok over the past 25 years. It's actually not such a bad place to live, and your photos show it's not such a bad place to visit either.
ReplyDeleteWow! And just as I thought... after touring around the country, you will be touring the world naman!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots, Norman. Really beautiful! I love the first pic. You're a pro in photography na talaga! :)
@ chanpheng - its really similar to manila, just more progressive. and thais really look like pinoys. we just speak english.
ReplyDelete@ rhodora - thanx. i am still learning. dami ko natututunan sa mga pros dito.
ReplyDeleteYou have a nice blog. I like the last picture of these very much!
ReplyDeleteThose highways look stunning! I love the night lights illuminating the curves of the highways!
ReplyDeleteI love Bangkok, I'm going to be back there next week. Thanks.
