Nowadays, when you say Pampanga, one can't help but be amazed on how a priest won as governor in the recent elections. But Pampanga has more than just politics to offer, in fact, it is one of the more progressive provinces in Central Luzon despite the eruption of Mount Pinatubo in the 1990s.

One of the major reasons why Pampanga sits on top of the region is Clark Field. For decades it was known simply as the Clark US Air Force Base, home to American pilots serving in the Pacific. Today, with the pilots long gone, the Clark Special Economic Zone (CSEZ) is setting out to become the hub for business, industry, aviation, and tourism in the Philippines as well as the entertainment and gaming centre of Asia.
Getting to the Clark Special Economic Zone is easy. If you are in Manila , take the North Luzon Expressway and exit at Dau, Mabalacat. Make a left turn towards Angeles City then a right to Clark. The trip should take about an hour and a half from Manila.

If however you are from the North, like me, you can take the Tarlac Route via Concepcion then to Mabalacat and Angeles City. You will have a nice view of Mount Arayat (on pic above) if you take this route.
One thing you will notice while you are in Clark Field is how clean it is. There are no garbage nor vandals around. The road users are so well disciplines unlike most of other places in the country.

There are lots of sights and places to visit while you are in Clark Field. One of them is Mimosa Leisure Estate. Mimosa is a world class leisure and recreation destination, set amidst centureis-old Mimosa rain trees - from which it dereives its name. The Estate has since opened the 86-hectare Mimosa Gold and Country Club with a 27-hole championship golf course, international standard accomodation at the Holiday Inn, restaurants and access to more than 11 duty free stores.
Other entertainment facilities including a water theme park, and casinos are in the pipeline. The first casino, Mimosa Regency is now open near the Holiday Inn, bringing opulent Las Vegas-style gaming traditions to Asia.
During my stay there, I was lodged in Oasis Hotel. It is located in Balibago, Angeles City. The hotel has nice features and lush surroundings. You may contact them at (045) 625-8301 to 04.

In Clark numerous choices awaits even the most discriminating business traveler or visitor. Whether you are on business or pleasure or both. It boasts of duty free shopping and fine dining to unwind after a hard days work. Or you may just roam around the zone like what I and some of my friends usually do.
