I love fishing. Well, not the professional one, I just love the thought of anticipation when the bob of your fishing rod is sinking up and down the water indicating that there is already a catch. I still remember in my childhood days that we used to compete who will have the biggest catch among my siblings and more often than not I always end up with the smallest - jeez.
So when a friend invited me and a couple of others to his farm in Bagong Buhay, Cabanatuan City to fish, I readily said yes. So I spent the first Saturday of the year fishing.
We didn't bring any food because the farm has it all. We have agreed that what we will catch will be our lunch. So I woke up early at 9 am (early na yun for the weekend para sakin) and drove directly to the farm which is about an hour away from my house. (yes, i didn't eat breakfast). We started fishing at about 10 am so that we will have time to grill it for our lunch.
However, its almost twelve pm and we only had a couple of tilapia as our catch so our host ordered his helper to jump on the pond and catch fish via net. So, it is a merry lunch of fresh catch after all.
Confucius says "When fishing, patience is necessary" but I say "When your stomach is crumbling, it is hard to be patient".
After lunch, when the pressure to catch our lunch subsided, fishing continued but on a lighter and relaxing phase. Fishing is indeed therapeutic for it permits you to relax from vanity. The calmness of the surrounding, the reflection in the water, the occassional splash of fishes jumping out of the water, the gush of warm breeze and the rays of the gentle sun touching your skin all add up to that relaxing mood.
Ahh, I need to do this more often!!!

I love fishing too.. sa pinas nga lang..
ReplyDeletedito kc kelangan mo ng fishing license..
Very relaxing talaga ang fishing :)
ReplyDeleteI am an avid sports fisherman and fish a lot during the spring and summer season here. I love any post that talks about fishing hehe :)
ReplyDeleteHook and line is my preferred way of catching fish. I remember at a pay as you catch fishpond in Negros we were fishing with a crude bamboo fishing line which failed us to land a fish so one of the attendants got a net and took us a few for lunch. If I brought my fishing gear with me it would have been a different story . But man I love eating freshly caught fish grilled to perfection :)
@ kris jasper - Talaga??? hirap pala jan may license pa. I think jan yata pati panonood ng tv may license right? Just heard it somewhere.
ReplyDelete@ kegler747 - yup, kahit wala mahuli basta yung andun ka lang, nag rereflect at nagmumuni-muni ayos na.
ReplyDeleteFresh grilled fish. It's healthy and delicious.
ReplyDeleteSame experience, that's why there was a net to the rescue lol.
nice to know na you took advantage of the seat sale ng PAL, saan naman tayo ngayon? :)
ReplyDeleteBumili narin ako for Iloilo at CDO next month na khit sana eh matagal ko pa balak bumili ng ticket :)
@ kegler747 - I booked myself to Ilo-ilo on Feb 15. I just really hope wala conflict sa work by that time. Ang mura ng 2-way, P2,970.00 lang.
ReplyDeleteI better get my fishing gears in shape and start fishing again! Parang ginising uli ninyo ako sa "joy ng fishing." I used to fish a lot and enjoy every minute of it, maski na at the end of the day the only thing I catch is a cold. Actually fishing is seldom that bad - it just depend on when or where you fish and whether the fish is fisherman-friendly or not LOL.
ReplyDelete@ bertn - thanx for dropping by. one of the best thing to do to relax really is to fish, i am glad my post inspired you. have a nice day.
