"You have never really been to Cagayan de Oro until you try White Water Rafting!" I have heard and read about this phrase countless times, so when I got the chance to visit Cagayan De Oro, the first thing on my mind is to try and experience their famous White Water Rafting Adventure.
After spending the night at the City Center, we traveled by jeep for about an hour to Barangay Cabula to meet our guides, Kagay Group, and to get our rafting gears and boat. Then we headed to Barangay Mambuaya (just a few minutes ride) where we have brief orientation of things to do and things to expect.
Since we are all beginners, we have unanimously chosen the Mambuaya to Kabula Adventure which is a three hour ride consisting of fourteen rapids. Here are some shots I have taken before the actual ride:
White Water Adventure Park Sign
The Transpo of Choice - Pinoy Jeepney
Guide: "If you fell out of the boat - GOODLUCK!!!"
Guides and Boatmen Preparin' the Rafts
Minifalls and Cascades
These Folks Just Finished the Course when we arrived
Hmmm. My friend took this shot of me just before the ride. I look funny because: (a) The prospect of falling in the raft scares the **** out of me. (b) My new set of teeth-braces affects my smile. (c) I look like a comic-warrior out of Takeshi's Castle. (d) I wanna pee but since I have lots of gears in the way, better do it in the river lol. (e) all of the above.
The actual river ride shots, as taken by our guide, on my next posts.

I've tried water rafting in CDO too. We were so scared because there was a heavy rainfall that time and rain water was rushing from the mountains. We felt like we were paddling through a flashflood. The scariest part was when our boat capsized right into one of the rapids and everyone fell into the water. The guides panicked. Haha.
ReplyDeleteI really recommend this to everybody. Super adrenalin rush!
Totoo yung phrase na ""You have never really been to Cagayan de Oro until you try White Water Rafting!" I only tried rafting sa CDO on my 3rd visit kse parang something is missing sa trip ko.
