Cleopatra's story is one of the most famous stories ever. Not only because of her great love, but because she was deeply in love with Egypt and she is classified by historians to be the last Pharoah of Egypt. She is by far one of the most ever famous queens of all times in ancient Egypt. Her story of love and death is very famous and she ruled Egypt and made it quite powerful at the time. Her story is so famous that it isn't surprising that the theme found it's way in one of the floats in this year's Panagbenga Festival. 
The Baguio Country Club has previously won three successive Best Float Design from 2004 to 2006 so their entry this year is eagerly anticipated by the spectators. And they did live up the hype with their Egyptian theme this year. Men carrying huge feathers and silver spades opened up the show followed by beautiful belly dancers that surely wowed the crowd. Then there was this Pyramid Float surrounded by beautiful Egyptian Belles followed finally by their beautiful float featuring the Royal Family.
I just didn't know yet if their Float won this year or if ever they again competed because I have learned that if you have won in certain number of years, you will be elevated to the Hall of Fame and you are no longer eligible to join the competition. But nevertheless, this Egyptian Theme of the Baguio Country Club is certainly one of the best floats this year evidenced by the wows and admirations from the spectators.

ReplyDeleteIt's cool that they did this Egyptian theme in this year's Panagbenga Festival. Cleopatra was not beautiful but her overall appeal is amazing and she's got tons of makeup LOL. She also fell in love with various Greek personalities and others. Most famous of her lovers would be Antony and Julius Caesar. :) I didn't know the Panagbenga Festival is THIS beautiful. Maybe I'd try to visit next year and look for the Baguio Country Club. Amazing float and props.

ReplyDeleteOh it is so beautiful. I think the egyptian float looked very lovely. Over here at one of the shopping mall, the toilets are painted with egyptian images. Not sure if the paintings are still there...lol.

ReplyDeleteHi, pictures were great. Ive been watching the parades yearly since 1998.Baguio Country Club has not been competing since 2005. 1st hall of fame awardee. I heard that the employees of the Club made the props and costumes of cleopatra's entourage. The belly dancer is also an international car race champion as I heard from the spectators around me.
