To continue with the Puerto Galera series, let me bring you three connecting beaches located in the west portion of the island. The Sabang, Small Lalaguna and Big Lalaguna Beaches:
SABANG BEACH
Sabang is famous for its girls. It is considered the red-light district of Puerto Galera. It is a highly-developed area with nearly all sorts of facilities sprung-up around the village.
There are numerous souvenir shops, sari-sari store, open-air bars and disco houses that feature go-go dancers. As opposed to other beach communities, Sabang offers a large variety of accommodation of all categories.
This beach is not really for swimming but mainly a jump-off point for those who want to explore the nearby coral reefs. But since, this place has lots of bars and disco houses, you should take caution on walking at the beach at night because you might trip yourself of drunkards lying on the shore or better yet, lovers making-out in the sands.
SMALL LALAGUNA BEACH
Small Lalaguna can be reached on foot from Sabang Beach. There is a foot path constructed between the beaches and it is one of the most scenic walks you can have because it is just on the coast.
This beach is a quiet sand beach with coral reefs close to the shore. It is more suitable for sun-bathing and snorkeling rather than swimming since rocks and corals hinder the access to deeper water.
There are few accommodations and restaurants in the place but the most notable one in the area because of its ship-like structure (and very white too) is the Club Mabuhay Resort. This beach has also a very laid-back ambiance and one can just sit down on a man-made park just located in front of the resort and just watch the sky and the open sea with your loved one.
BIG LALAGUNA BEACH
Strolling further west from Small Lalaguna, your feet will lead you to Big Lalaguna Beach. Of the three beaches, this one has the brightest and whitest sand and these are where swimmers are mostly found.
This beach is in a form of a cove and there are colorful coral reefs located at both end of the cove. I really wonder why this is called Big Lalaguna when in fact, this is smaller than Small Lalaguna in terms of shoreline. Maybe because this beach allows swimmers better access o the sea.
Although these beaches can be reached by boats, the best way to explore these is through walking. However, Big Lalaguna has a dead-end so you need to retrace your steps and go back on the same path that lead you there. I certainly don't mind because walking on the shores of these beaches is definitely enjoyable yet refreshing.
More of Puerto Galera on my next posts.
i've been to puerto galera twice only, but i feel like i've seen it all. i wonder what new things galera can offer to tourists. that said, your great photos give galera more justice that it deserves.
ReplyDeleteokay im so bad. haha :D

LS: A fun trip to a neat beach, you certainly get to visit wonderful places.
ReplyDeleteLovely beach you have there. It is so hot now over here to go to the beach. Hope more rain will come.
ReplyDeletenever been there and this gives me a good view of the three beaches. of the three i think i will also choose the big lalaguna.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize that there is a red light district along the beach. Is this some sort of only in da philippines occurence?
ReplyDeleteI can't believe so much development so close to the water in Puerto Galera. There's no natural appeal at all. I dread to think of Boracay going in that direction.
ReplyDeleteI've been behind in visiting blogs. So many lovely shots this past week! Sunsets, beaches, plants, boats... all great. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat beach shots. Thanks for sharing.

i had trip to sabang beach cancelled sometime ago...have yet to reach it unlike the crowded white beach
ReplyDeleteThe first shot is a beauty but I think I like the last beach the most.
ReplyDeleteOooh, didn't know Puerto Galera had a "red-light district."
ReplyDeleteSo many gorgeous beaches!
ReplyDeleteRed Light District? I thought White Beach is the red-light district because when I was there, there are so much party goin' on every night and that people are literally ogling and doing it at the far end of the beach.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots as always!
ReplyDeleteGreat first photo of the pier... there's always a red district everywhere. Too bad it has to be Sabang.
ReplyDeletePuerto Galera is crowded now during Holy Week
ReplyDeleteWell, Puerto Galera is for sure a main Tourist destination in the PI, but I would consider it for diving or single men only.
ReplyDeleteThe beach can't really considered as that. You might wanna go further to Talipanan beach.
As it is for beaching, swimming and snorkeling Puerto Galera is not really the place to go.
cheers
Rhoody
