I rarely encounter a beach named after a woman. If I remembered it right, the only other beach I know which was named after a woman was Alona Beach in Panglao Island. Alona Beach was named after the actress Alona Alegre who was frequently seen shooting a movie there. For Alice Beach, I find it hard knowing the history behind the nomenclature so I could only guess.
Perhaps the beach is coined after Alice in Wonderland because the entire stretch of the beach is truly a wonderland of white, fine sand, crystal clear blue waters and the abundant shades of coconut trees and other palms. Or perhaps, a famous Alice once inhabited the place and the name stucked to the place ever since. I dunno. Any idea?
History of the name aside, Alice Beach is one of the longest beach in the Town of Sta. Fe stretching from the islands' pier/wharf to the Barangay of Ocoy. The beach is the best spot for sunrise and you can even have the Virgin Islands and the Hilantaga-an islands as backdrops.

Do you like this series so far? Do you think Bantayan Island should be on top of my Best Travels list of 2009? Or you rather prefer the idyllic mountain of Sagada? Or the amazing natural adventure that Pagudpud-Bangui-Burgos trip offered? Help me decide which should be my top travel of 2009 by participating in the poll I have created in my sidebar. Be it the Hong Kong-Macau tour or the festive Baguio's Panagbenga coverage... the Cagbalete-Pagbilao escape or the Biliran adventure... the historical Leyte trip or the nature-abundant Imugan-Malico wanderings... or you may opt for the different side of Puerto Galera.
I have narrowed the choices to these ten and I want to know what you think thru your votes. The results will prominently be a factor in choosing "My Top Travels of 2009" which will be posted first thing in January. Many Thanks.
More of Bantayan Island in my next posts...
