Boracay Is For Lovers

Yup. Boracay is for lovers... lovers of the beach, that is. Although, most flock the popular White Beach, there are other beaches in the island that will surely cater to just about anyone's taste.

My favorite beach in Boracay is Puka Beach. It is the second longest beach in Boracay and it covers half of the island's northern tip. The sand here is more silica and a little more grainy. The mild, gentle waves lapping the beach provide a pleasant background noise common to islands fringed with coral reefs. The beach itself is 800 meters long and named after Puka Shells. These are small shells and tiny, white coral pieces prized for making bracelets and necklaces. Many experts regard these shells as one of the world's finest.

Ilig-Iligan beach is on the east coast of Boracay Island and offers several coves and caves. This beach is perfect for swimming with its crystal clear and warm waters without the usual crowd. If you prefer to explore the land, this part of Boracay has an impressive jungle where giant fruit bats may be seen hanging in the trees. The Bat Cave and the Crystal Cave is just a 15-minute trek from this beach.

Diniwid Beach is a secluded, peaceful little beach that is only 200 meters long. It is just a short walk from the north end of the White Beach along the Fairways and Bluewater Road. Take the time to trek here and be rewarded with one of the best views of the island from a platform rock. Also of note, is the exclusive resort home area built on the steep, high seacliff at the end of the Diniwid Beach.

Tambisaan Beach is a short walk away a rocky point and probably has the best view of the Crocodile Island which is one of the best place for snorkeling. The beach here is small but quite nice. A small friendly village is nearby, where the athmosphere is sleepy until the southwest moonsoon begins. Just along side the beach is a docking area for boats taking passengers from Boracay to Caticlan.

This is Lapuz-lapuz Beach as seen from Mount Luho. This beach is somewhat secluded and you need permission from the Fairways and Blue Water Resort to dock in this beach. Mount Luho is the highest peak in Boracay and there is a viewdeck and walkway there built mostly with bamboos. It is located in the upper portion of Barangay Balabag and can be reached thru walking/hiking, bicycles, ATVs or motorcycles.

And of course, the White Beach - Boracay's premier beach. It comprises of a whole three and a half kilometers of fine, white coral sand, in places up to 100 meters wide. This is where all the major actions and fun happens. Various sports and recreational activities also abound such as windsurfing, beach volleyball, para-sailing, jet-skiing, wading, Frisbee throwing as well as local games such as harang-taga.

With all these and more, Boracay indeed is for beach lovers and a place worth celebrating love with. Whether in a company of a loved one or in a solitary solitude with nature.

Happy Valentines Everyone!

  5. Thanks for the Boracay mapping! I've never been oriented to the name of the beaches, but only of certain establishment/landmarks near them. My most fave is still Puka Beach. I would be more than willing to ride the bike again going there from station 2. :)

  9. Boracay is for family, the kids loved it there, but despite the fact that it's really beautiful, i'd still say it is very much commercialized nowadays.

Hahaha. Nagreminisce ako bigla. Hahaha.

Ang dami pa palang beach dito...Napuntahan ko lang ay Puka at Island Cove, may isa pa, I forgot lang.

The best ang mga photos mo, Atty.

  15. I've been to so many places in this country but I've never been to Boracay. Too commercialized and too Manila-like, they say (about the crowds and way of life). But this post gave it a new face.

BTW, I went to Candaba swamps using your blogs directions and tips. Loved the place. Your blog has helped me in my travels. Thanks big time!
