Stop-Over Lunch @ Dumarao

Dumarao, Capiz
Pengees Restaurant boast of having the best Kalderetang Kambing (Goat Meat Stew) in the whole of Panay Island. Although I am not a fan of Kambing dishes, not tasting this famous Capiz dish is a big no-no for me. What's my verdict?

Well, if I haven't known it's a goat, I would have mistaken it for a beef because it really tastes like beef. There is none of that rancid flavor that I associate with goat dishes that is why I dislike them. And the dish is tasty and spicy enough perfect for either a cup of steamed rice or as pulutan (appetizer) in drinking parties.

As for the place, Pengees exudes a mixed vibe of surfer's place and tropical tribe with those colorful statues made of stone. I just find it odd because the place is located on a highway and I do not see any beach or sea nearby. Maybe, its an added attraction because most diners there took a souvenir shot beside these statues.

Nevertheless, if it is Kalderatang Kambing you want, Pengees may have rightfully claim to have the best one in Panay.

  5. I thought goat meat is tangy so you need lots and lots of chilli peppers just to saturate the taste. Never fond of eating goats too.

  13. Oman, you have one of the most beautiful blogs I have ever seen! And your name for the blog is so clever! Loved seeing the sunsets...your photography is stunning! This place sounds interesting, but it would definitely be more exotic on the beach!

Thanks so much for coming by and visiting my blog!!!
