As the lyrics of the song in this blog's title goes "I can see the stars all the way from here. Can't you see the glow on the window pane? I can feel the sun whenever you're near. Every time you touch me I just melt away. Now everybody asks me why I'm smiling out from ear to ear..."
While Beyonce' might be referring to the man of his dreams while belting out this lung-busting song that seem to go higher and higher, the same feeling can be had when you visit the Capitol Tourism Plaza of Tabuk City. A magnificent view of Tabuk Valley and the Chico River flowing as far as the eyes can see await those who dare to trek the this hill located just few minutes fronm the City proper.
It is a rough uphill climb to the plaza on a wide dusty trail magnified by a sweltering heat of the mid day sun. There are few covers along the way so it is best to hire a tricycle to take you to the top. Along the way, you will be entertained by colorful flowering bushes and trees as well as herd of cows that seem to just lay and relax by the roadside. It may be bumpy and it may be dusty but once you reach the top, you will marvel at the lovely sight of the sloping valleys and mountains of Kalinga.
It was quite surprising that the park above the hill is quite developed and has its own modest structures such as viewing deck and concrete pathways with built-in tables and chairs. On the opposite side of the hill were a huge still uncompleted house which I gather was owned by the Mayor and serve as a lodging house for visitors. There are also several tents on the area which gives you the perception that the place is good for camping grounds.
I gather that the place is at the forefront of the City Government's development efforts because the local government sees the potential of their place as a world-class adventure and eco-tourism destination.
